About Us

On January 1, 2014, our family's individual health insurance plan was canceled because of the requirements of the Affordable Care Act. The least expensive health insurance plan that is now available to us is not affordable. After a lot of research, consideration and prayer, we determined that being a member of a health cost sharing ministry is a good alternative for our family.

In our search for the best option for our situation, we spent an inordinate amount of time and a good deal of frustration reviewing the materials of each of these three ministries. This site is our effort to share what we learned with others in the same situation.

As we emphasize on this site and as each ministry will repeatedly remind you, health cost sharing is not insurance. We remain acutely aware that our health care costs are ultimately our personal responsibility even though we are members of Medi-Share. As part of a Christian community, however, we are pleased to be able to share the needs of fellow believers with no guarantee that they will do the same for us. We have faith that God will meet our health care needs according to His plans.

y Medi-Share is the best option for us.

  • It has the most sharing levels. We were able to find an option that had the right balance of monthly contributions and minimum out-of-pocket costs to fit our financial situation.

  • There is no limit on sharing for eligible injuries/illnesses. Because of the age and health of our family, we are most concerned with catastrophic health events where costs may quickly exceed the $125,000 or $250,000 limits of the other two ministries.

    • While the other two ministries offer additional sharing opportunites (Brother's Keeper and Save to Share), the additional amounts are limited and/or uncertain except at the most costly level.

    • Like other ministries, Medi-Share offers an opportunity to share otherwise ineligible costs through the Extra Blessings program.

  • Bill processing is traditional. Health care providers send bills directly to Medi-Share, Medi-Share negotiates discounts and pays providers directly if charges are eligible for sharing.

  • Member contributions are made through Medi-Share. This is more efficient than sending contributions directly to a different member in need each month. Members receive the names of members in need so they may provide additional support through prayer and notes of encouragement.

  • Medi-Share has the best defined eligibility guidelines. With limited exceptions and conditions that they clearly explain, any testing and treatment approved by the American Medical Association is eligible for sharing.

  • Non-medical related adoption expenses are eligible for sharing after 24 months. Although each health sharing ministry covers adopted children's qualifying medical expenses and Samaritan Ministries covers birth mother expenses under some circumstances, only Medi-Share shares non-medical adoption-related expenses incurred to bring your child home. We appreciate the opportunity to be part of a sharing community that supports adoption as part of its health and wellness program.
